Individualization Attempt Goes into Repeating Message About Security Components with Windows Media Player Version7.1 (298086)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows Media Player 7.1
This article was previously published under Q298086 SYMPTOMS
When you use Windows Media Player version 7.1 on a computer that runs Windows 2000 and has a 28.8K modem, if you try to gain access to V2 content that requires individualization and you specify installation of the new security components, you may receive the following status message:
Starting individualization...
After the status message appears, you again receive the message that asks whether you want to install new security components. When you click Yes, the behavior repeats.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you connect to your local area network (LAN) and then connect to another network through the modem. Windows Media Player does not detect the change, and the messages begin to appear.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, restart the computer, and then use the modem to connect to the network where you intend to work.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
