This article was previously published under Q298083 SYMPTOMS
When you view visualizations in Microsoft Windows Media Player, they may not appear as expected. You may see the following behavior:
- A black background may be displayed.
- Visualizations may be distorted.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur when the following conditions are true:
- Plenoptic visualizations are selected.
- You clicked Full Screen on the View menu.
- The computer uses an NVIDIA Riva TNT2, GeForce, or Intel chipsets with integrated graphics. Other display adapters may also exhibit this behavior.
Plenoptic visualizations are not intended for play in full screen mode. When you select a Plenoptic visualization, the Full Screen command on the View menu should be unavailable (it should appear dimmed). However, the Full Screen command is available when you select a Plenoptic visualization.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, turn off full screen mode when you view Plenoptic visualizations.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATION
Visualizations are splashes of color and geometric shapes that change with the beat of the music that is playing.
For more information about visualizations, click Help Topics on the Windows Media Player Help menu. On the Search tab, type Visualization, and then click List Topics to view the topics returned.
