  • Microsoft Mobile Information 2001 Server

This article was previously published under Q297979

SYMPTOMS

If you navigate to a subfolder of your mailbox by using a Microsoft Mobile Explorer (MME) version 2.0 device, such as the Sony Z5, you receive the following error message:
Item does not exist

CAUSE

This problem occurs because you have exceeded the 250-character limit. When you browse your mailbox with Outlook Mobile Access, your device accesses your folders through a URL to your mailbox. URLs in MME are limited to 250 characters. The additional information to get to your mailbox plus the name of the folder cannot exceed 250 characters.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, reduce the size of the name of the folders in your mailbox to less than 200 characters for use with Outlook Mobile Access.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
