Error Message: This User Could Not Be Enabled for Wireless Mobility Because an Auxiliary Account Could Not Be Created (297966)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Mobile Information 2001 Server
This article was previously published under Q297966 SYMPTOMS
When you use Mobile Information Server in a topology that creates wireless accounts in an auxiliary domain or in an auxiliary forest, when the auxiliary account is being created, you may receive the following error message:
This user could not be enabled for wireless mobility because an auxiliary account could not be created. An account with the same auxiliary logon name already exists in the wireless domain.
CAUSE
This problem can occur if an account with the same alias as the account that you want to enable for wireless mobility already exists in the auxiliary domain.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, delete the account that exists in the auxiliary domain. You can also rename the users primary account so that the primary account does not match an account in the auxiliary domain. When you do so, if you create the auxiliary account, the auxiliary account does not conflict with an account that already exists.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
