Performance Issue While Running ForeHelp (297958)

SYMPTOMS

When you are running ForeHelp in Windows Millennium Edition (Me), certain operations may cause the performance of Windows to be degraded while constant hard disk activity occurs. Many copies of the ForeHelp database files are created in the _Restore\Temp folder. This results in slow Windows performance and uses up large amounts of storage space.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

The System Restore feature watches for changes to system files and saves them before they are changed. Windows treats the ForeHelp database files as system files and backs them up every time they are written to.
