Rand McNally Explore America DVD Does Not Play Video (297755)

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade to Windows XP, the Rand McNally Explorer America Edition digital video disc (DVD) may not play videos. When you insert this DVD, the video attempts to start and then skips to the title screen without playing any video.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Rand McNally Explorer America Edition is designed to work with the Cinemaster 98 Software decoder that is included with Gateway computers. Because this decoder is not fully compatible with Windows XP, Rand McNally Explorer America Edition may not work after you install a new decoder.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
