FIX: ActiveX EXEs That Run as the Launching User May Use the Wrong Desktop (297701)

SYMPTOMS

ActiveX EXEs that are set to run as the launching user may use the wrong desktop. This can occur if the creating process is impersonating a user other than the user account under which it is running when it launches the ActiveX EXE. Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) is a good example of such a process. This affects ActiveX applications that require access to the desktop of the impersonated user.

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
