SUMMARY

This article explains how to change the default update rates for the Today statistics screen in Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM).

MORE INFORMATION

The Today statistics screen displays information in three categories. Each category has a different update (refresh) rate, which you can customize. By default, the following rates are in effect:
  • The Computers, Alerts and Service Level exception statistics are updated every 5 minutes.
  • The Events statistics are updated every 30 minutes.
  • The Performance, Rules and Knowledge Base statistics are updated every 60 minutes.
IMPORTANT: This article contains information about using SQL Enterprise Manager to make direct modifications. Before you make these modifications, make sure you understand how to recover the existing configuration if a problem occurs.

The update rate for data tabulation for each set of Today statistics is controlled by a SQL job. To customize the update rate:
  1. Start SQL Server Enterprise Manager, and then click the SQL server that contains the OnePoint database.
  2. Move to the Management node, and then click the SQL Server Agent - Jobs subnode.

Each category has its own SQL job that updates the Today statistics screen. These jobs are:
    • TodayStatisticsUpdateComputersAndAlerts - Computers, Alerts and Service Level
    • TodayStatisticsUpdateEvents - Events
    • TodayStatisticsUpdatePerfmonRulesKB - Performance, Rules and Knowledge Base
  3. Double-click the appropriate job, and on the Schedule tab, click the schedule entry and then click Edit.
  4. Click Change, and then specify the new update interval.
  5. Click OK until you return to the screen that displays the jobs.
