FIX: No Servers Are Returned in Server Group Query on Windows Server 2003 (297544)

SYMPTOMS

When you expand a BizTalk Server group in the BizTalk Server Administrator, there may be no server instances visible even though BizTalk servers exist in the group.

This problem only occurs when you run the BizTalk Server Administrator on the Windows Server 2003 operating system.

CAUSE

The BizTalk Server Administrator uses the ExecQuery() WMI call to enumerate BizTalk Server instances. This call fails on the Windows Server 2003 operating system because of the translation of the ASSOCIATORS query into the WQL query that is made by the operating system. Windows Server translates these queries differently than Windows 2000.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for BizTalk Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in BizTalk Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000 Service Pack 1.
