Users Are Migrated to the Root of Target Domain with the Active Directory Migration Tool (297506)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT) command line to migrate a user, the user may be migrated to the root of the target domain. For example:

admt user /sd:SourceDomain /td:TargetDomain /n:\user1

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because you did not specify an Organizational Unit (OU) in the command line.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, include the /to: switch with the name of the target OU. You can also create an Options file that includes the TargetOU parameter.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
