The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Visio 2002 Standard
- Microsoft Visio 2002 Professional
This article was previously published under Q297448 SYMPTOMS
When you drop a shape on a drawing in Microsoft Visio, the shape may grow sufficiently large that it doesn't fit on the page or doesn't scale appropriately to the other shapes already on the drawing.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if certain shapes are dropped onto a non-scaled page. When there is no scale defined for the page, the shapes dropped do not scale to a set size.
RESOLUTION
To resolve the issue, follow these steps to set the scale on the drawing:
- Start Visio, and then open the drawing.
- On the File menu, click Page Setup.
- On the Drawing Scale tab, click Predefined Scale, and then click a predefined architectural, civil engineering, metric, or mechanical engineering scale.
-or-
On the Drawing Scale tab, click Custom Scale, and then type a custom scale. - Click OK.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
