Visio2002: Cannot Quit Visio After You Close a Drawing (297397)

SYMPTOMS

After you close a drawing, you cannot quit Microsoft Visio. You can open, edit, and save drawings, but you cannot quit Visio.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the following conditions are true:
  1. You open the Shapesheet spreadsheet while you are editing a drawing.
  2. You open the document stencil.

RESOLUTION

To quit Visio when this issue occurs, press the CTRL+ALT+DEL key combination to activate the Close Program window, and then click End Task for Microsoft Visio. You may have to press End Task a second time.

To work around this issue, open the document stencil before you open the Shapesheet spreadsheet.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
