SYMPTOMS
If you open a Word document inside a WebBrowser control
(for example, on a Microsoft Visual Basic form), Word may quit when you then
click or drag certain screen items of the Word document in the WebBrowser
control. Screen items that the problem occurs with include the vertical and
horizontal ruler, the pane splitter, and the scroll button on the vertical
scroll bar.
This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
- You open a Word document inside a WebBrowser control (for
example, on a Visual Basic form).
- You start a separate instance of Word, and then you quit
that instance of Word.
- You click or drag certain screen items of the Word document
in the WebBrowser control.
RESOLUTION
A supported fix is now available
from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is
described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing
this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if
you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you
wait for the next Office 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.

NOTE: In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for

The English version of
this fix should have the following file attributes or later. The dates and
times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you
view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the
difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and
Time tool in Control Panel.
