PPT2002: Multiple Masters Are Not Removed from the Presentation When You Clear the Multiple Masters Check Box (297361)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2002
This article was previously published under Q297361 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft PowerPoint, when you clear the Multiple masters check box in a presentation that contains multiple masters, the masters that are already applied to your presentation are not deleted or changed to match a single master.
CAUSE
By design, when you clear the Multiple masters check box, your currently opened presentation is not altered. However, when the multiple-masters functionality is turned off, you are not able to add new master slides to your presentation.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, apply a new slide design to the presentation after you clear the Multiple masters check box. The new design will replace all existing masters in the presentation. To do this, follow these steps:
- Start Microsoft PowerPoint 2002, and then open the presentation that you want.
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Edit tab.
- Under Disable new features, make sure that Multiple masters is not selected.
- On the Format menu, click Slide Design.
- In the Slide Design task pane, click the design template that you want under Apply a design template.
MORE INFORMATION
When you clear the Multiple masters check box, you are prevented from inserting another master into the presentation. However, existing presentations with different masters remain unaffected.
This functionality allows collaborative work on presentations while restricting unintended changes to the presentation.
For more information about masters, click Microsoft PowerPoint Help on the
Help menu, type master in the Office Assistant or
the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topics
returned.
