If a user's mailbox is on an Exchange 2000 Server computer and the user tries to access organizational forms in a mixed Exchange 2000 and Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 site, the user is referred to a remote server (outside the site) without affinity and with no Exchange 2000 connectors. As a result, Microsoft Outlook clients may stop responding (hang) for a long time before Outlook finds the correct server.

STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 1.MORE INFORMATION
This problem occurs because of a regression and does not occur with the RTM build (4417.5) of Exchange 2000. This symptom is only visible if you are running a fix version of these Exchange 2000 components that is later than 4417.5.
