XCCC: Mobile Information Server Services Do Not Start and Event ID 568, 531, and 532 Error Messages Are Logged (297301)

The following Mobile Information Server services may not start:
- Mobile Information Server Message Processor
- Mobile Information Server SMTP Connector Service
The following error messages may be logged:
Event ID: 532
Unable to retrieve MSMQ Path and Label. Verify that the MSMQ path and label are set correctly in Active Directory. Check network conenction to verify Active Directory connectivity. Check the account that the Mobile Information Server is running under, and make sure it has read access to configuration data in Active Directory.
NOTE: In the preceding error message, the word "conenction" is a misspelling for the word "connection."
Event ID: 531
Mobile Information Server SMTP Connector Service did not shut down properly. Please restart the service.
Event ID: 568
Mobile Information Server SMTP Connector Service could not read outbound request MSMQ path from Active Directory. Outbound Request MSMQ path is not set in Active Directory, or name exceeds maxsize.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if the Mobile Information Server services cannot connect to the Microsoft Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service on the local server.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
