You Do Not Receive Password Expiration Notification If You Use the Intranet Browse Functionality (297297)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Mobile Information 2001 Server
This article was previously published under Q297297 SYMPTOMS
If you use the Intranet Browse functionality in Mobile Information Server, and you do not use Microsoft Outlook Mobile Access to access your Microsoft Exchange Server mailbox, you do not receive password expiration notifications before your password is about to expire. If your password expires before you are able to change it, you may not be able to log on to intranet sites by using your wireless device.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, if you are an administrator, warn users of upcoming password expirations, and give them sufficient time to change the password so that they can use the Intranet Browse functionality in Mobile Information Server.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATION
You only receive a password expiration notification if you use Outlook Mobile Access to access Exchange Server 5.5 or Exchange 2000 mailboxes.
