MORE INFORMATION
NOTE: The extensive steps that are outlined in this article assume that you are proficient in moving and copying files and folders on a Macintosh computer, and that you have either a device for handling large files or a network connection with shared folders established between the Macintosh computers involved in the file transfer.

Entourage Identity Structure
You may need to replicate your message folders, address book, and other items that you created with Entourage from one Macintosh computer to another. Although there are a few exceptions, most of your Entourage personal information data is contained in your identity and managed by the Database file. It is highly recommended that the entire information store be moved. The following list is a complete collection of the files that are stored in your identity:
- Database
- Database Cache
- Messages
- Rules
- Signatures
- Mailing List
- Preferences
The following is the default Macintosh path for identities:
<Hard Drive>:Documents:Microsoft User Data:Office 2001 Identities
You should place an identity that you copy from one Macintosh computer to another in the Office 2001 Identities folder.
How to Copy the Folder
Before you move the identity folder from the originating Macintosh computer, click the folder, and then click
Duplicate on the
Finder File menu to make a backup copy. A folder named "<
Folder Name> Copy" is created.
Close Entourage if it is currently running. Depending on the method that you are using to transfer the identity, either access the shared folder on the network or insert removable media in the appropriate device. Drag the copy of the identity folder to the device or window that represents the shared folder.
After you have copied the identity folder to the receiving Macintosh computer, you can rename the folder if you want.
How to Test the Identity
Start Entourage on the receiving Macintosh computer. The information that is transferred should appear in the Entourage folder lists and viewer. If the receiving Macintosh computer uses a different e-mail account, remove the Preferences file after you exit Entourage and the Account Wizard will appear so that you can configure a new e-mail account.
In some instances, it may be necessary to rebuild the Entourage database after you copy the files to the new Macintosh computer location. This procedure is indicated when anomalies in the folder structure are noted after you establish the identity on the new Macintosh computer.
