XCCC: After You Re-Install Exchange 2000 Multimedia Controls by Using OWA You May Be Prompted to Restart (297251)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, when used with:
- the operating system: Microsoft Windows 2000 SP1
This article was previously published under Q297251 SYMPTOMS
After you use Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.5 to gain access to Microsoft Web Access (OWA) and create and then cancel a message, if you re-install the Microsoft Exchange Multimedia Control from the OWA Options page, you may be prompted to restart your computer.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if Emedia.dll is being held by Internet Explorer 5.5 after you close a Compose form (but while the Internet Explorer 5.5 window is still open). You are prompted to restart after you re-install the Exchange Multimedia Control because Emedia.dll is still loaded.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, close Internet Explorer 5.5 to unload Emedia.dll. After you close Internet Explorer 5.5, you can re-open Internet Explorer 5.5 and re-install the Exchange Multimedia Control without being prompted to restart your computer.
STATUSThis behavior is by design.
