FIX: Cannot Browse Cubes or Process Mining Model After You Install Analysis Services 2000 RTM (297232)

SYMPTOMS If you install Analysis Services 2000 RTM after you install
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Microsoft Office XP, when you
attempt to browse cubes or process a mining model using Analysis Manager, you
may receive the following error messages: Unable to
browse cube 'name'. Unspecified error This object structure is not valid (Invalid
procedure call or argument) If you installed a beta version of SQL
Server 2000 SP1 or Office XP, you may see a different error message:
Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly
installed If you install Analysis Services 2000 RTM after you
install Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP2), you will experience the
same problem. You may also receive this error message: Unable to locate cube CAUSE The Analysis Services installation overwrites the newer
version of Msolap80.dll and Msdmine.dll from SQL Server 2000 SP1 or Office XP
with an older version (8.0.194), which causes Msolap80.dll, Msdmine.dll, and
Msolap80.rll, Msdmine.rll to be out of synchronization. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest
service pack for the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 (the Analysis Services
Components - Sql2kasp1.exe). For additional information, click the following

WORKAROUND If Office XP is installed, you can run the Office XP or
Office XP Web Components installation with the Detect and Repair option.

STATUSMicrosoft has
confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services version
8.0.
This problem was
first corrected in the Analysis Services Components of Microsoft SQL Server
2000 Service Pack 1.MORE INFORMATION If you install Analysis Services 2000 RTM onto a computer
that already contains updated client files, such as SQL Server 2000 SP1 or
Office XP, you must apply Analysis Services SP1 for this client to work
correctly.
