OL2000: Invalid Parameter Error Message When You Post an Item with an Attachment (297161)

SYMPTOMS

If you add an attachment to a posted discussion item and use the Revise Contents command to repost it, you may receive the following error message when you try to open the attachment:
The operation failed.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the Revise Contents command creates a new message object and copies the original data to this object.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do not use the Revise Contents command, or do not attach a file if you use the Revise Contents command.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP-3).
