XADM: Exchange 2000 Upgrade Does Not Show Installed Version in BackOffice Server Multiserver Console (297098)

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade from BackOffice Server 4.5 to BackOffice Server 2000, the BackOffice server applications are upgraded to BackOffice Server 2000 as well (for example, Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 upgrades to Exchange 2000 Server), and should reflect the updated version in the multiserver console at the end of the upgrade. However, the Exchange version may not be listed in the multiserver console.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the installed Exchange version is not reported back to the multiserver console in time to reflect the update.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft BackOffice 2000 Server. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 1.
