XIMS: Multiple IMAP Commands May Fail When Extended Logging Enabled (297011)

SYMPTOMS

Multiple Internet Mail Access Protocol (IMAP) COPY commands may fail when you copy e-mail messages from a folder whose name contains a space.

CAUSE

During the processing of the first of the commands, the path name is modified by the logging processes. Subsequent calls that use this path name fail for this session.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.

Disable logging or limit the number of fields to the following:

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
