SYMPTOMS

When you call any of the following functions to perform a check for a given object, the expected audit entry may not appear in the security log:

AccessCheckAndAuditAlarm

AccessCheckByTypeAndAuditAlarm

AccessCheckByTypeResultListAndAuditAlarm

AccessCheckByTypeResultListAndAuditAlarmByHandle

CAUSE

This problem can occur because these functions do not correctly call the associated audit code path.

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
