XWEB: Error Message Occurs When You Install Outlook Web Access 5.5 (296935)

SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) 5.5, you may receive the following error message:
An unexpected, unknown error has occurred.
MAPI or an unspecified service provider.
ID no: 00000000-0000-00000000

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you a install OWA 5.5, and then point it to an Exchange 2000 information store.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install OWA 5.5, and then directed it to an Exchange Server 5.5 information store.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue if you have an existing Exchange Server 5.5 configuration that is functional, upgrade the Exchange Server information store to Exchange 2000. You can also use a configuration where a computer that is running Exchange Server 5.5 and OWA is functioning correctly with an Exchange Server 5.5 computer that communicates with an Exchange 2000 computer.
