This article was previously published under Q296932 SYMPTOMS
When you browse to your Inbox by using Microsoft Outlook Mobile Access from your wireless device, if you click Navigation, click Folder List, and then click Folders or Parent Folders, you may receive the following error message:
Compiled WAP binary is too large. See info window for details.
If you view the contents of the window, the log window on a Phone.com Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) simulator, or the Further details window (if that functionality is available on your device), the following information is displayed:
----------------- DATA SIZE ------------------------
Uncompiled data from HTTP is 2626 bytes.
...found Content-Type: text/vnd.wap.wml.
Compiled WAP binary is 2076 bytes.
----------------------------------------------------
Compiled WAP Binary is too large by 76 bytes!
NOTE: The size of the uncompiled and compiled data may vary.
CAUSE
This issue can occur if the mailbox contains a very long folder name (a name that is greater than 200 characters). When WAP tries to display the folder in a list, the folder name exceeds the limits of the WAP specification.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue if you intend to use the mailbox with Outlook Mobile Access, rename the folder so that its name is less than 150 characters.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATION
WAP 1.1 has a limit of 2000 bytes of compiled data. Outlook Mobile Access uses a URL to access each folder in your mailbox. This URL is passed to the WAP browser, it is then rendered to your device.
