When you view the status of a network adapter, the statistical information that is displayed may vary depending upon the specific network interface. For example, when you view the status of some network interfaces, you may observe the number of bytes that are sent and received, yet other network interfaces only display the number of packets that are sent or received.

To view the statistics that are reported by your network adapter:
  1. Double-click Network Connections.
  2. Right-click the network interface.
  3. On the Context menu, click Status. The activity pane displays any statistics that are captured by your network interface.
The statistics that are displayed in the activity pane are adapter-specific statistics. These statistics are not a function of the operating system. The network interface vendor determines what statistics to report on the network interface. Therefore, you may observe a variation in the statistical information that is displayed in the activity pane. Some network interfaces may display the bytes that are sent and received, yet other network interfaces display only the packets that are sent and received.
