Deleting Multiple Printers with Active Print Jobs Simultaneously Causes Multiple "Unable to Delete" Error Messages (296660)

SYMPTOMS

If you try to delete multiple printers with active print jobs, you may receive multiple, simultaneous "Unable to delete" error messages (as many messages as there are printers that cannot be deleted).

CAUSE

This problem can occur if jobs are queued to the printer. After you click OK, you are prompted with another "Unable to delete" error message. The number of error messages that you receive is the same as the number of printers that cannot be deleted because those printers had jobs queued.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
