FIX: MS DTC Fails to Handle the "COMMITTED\n PULL\n" TIP Pipelining Command (296397)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft COM+ 1.0, when used with:
    • the operating system: Microsoft Windows 2000 SP2

This article was previously published under Q296397

SYMPTOMS

Although the "COMMITTED\n PULL\n" command is a valid TIP pipelining command based on the TIP specification, Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC) does not respond to the PULL command immediately after the COMMITTED response.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because MS DTC does not process a pipelined "COMMITTED\n PULL \n" command correctly. The COMMITTED command is processed, and the current transaction is forgotten. However, the transaction that you are trying to pull does not have a branch associated with it, and MS DTC does not send a PULLed response.
