SUMMARY

The Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) for Windows CE 3.1 (ADOCE) database technology is currently only supported when called from Visual Basic for Windows CE.

MORE INFORMATION

The distributions of ADO for Windows CE include several C++ files intended only for use by Microsoft in developing ADOCE. These are not intended to be used for developing applications. The ADOCE technology has not been tested for use in general C++ development environments.

C++ developers who are developing database applications should use the Windows CE Database (CEDB) functions instead for developing applications. If the operating system and platform prerequisites are met, the SQL Server CE components are another available option. For more information, visit the Microsoft SQL Server Web site (http://www.microsoft.com/sql) and search for "Windows CE".
