When you attempt to open or download a file from the Internet, the file name may not be displayed correctly in the Microsoft Internet Explorer Address bar or in the File name box of the Save As dialog box.
For example, when you open a file named "MyPicture##.bmp" in Internet Explorer, the file name may be displayed as MyPicture%23%23.bmp in the Address bar. When you click Save As on the File menu to save the file to your hard disk, the file name is also displayed as MyPicture%23%23.bmp in the File name box.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the file name of the file that you want to open or download contains any of the following characters:
Internet Explorer converts these characters to the following, respectively:
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, type a new name for the file that you want to download in the File name box of the Save As dialog box, and then click Save to save the file to your hard disk. Ensure that the new name does not contain any of the forbidden characters described in the "Cause" section of this article.
