PRB: Order of Child Categories Is Not Saved in the Business Desk Category Editor (296338)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Commerce Server 2000
This article was previously published under Q296338 SYMPTOMS
In the Commerce Server 2000 Business Desk Category Editor, the Move Up and Move Down buttons change the order of the display for the child categories. However, the order is not saved. Subsequently, when you edit a category, the child categories remain in the order that they were prior to the change.
CAUSE
The Catalog API does not support the ordering of child categories.
STATUS
This is by design.
MORE INFORMATION
Although the Move Up and Move Down buttons are available and seem to function normally, the change that they make to the order of the child categories are not saved. When the child categories list is retrieved from the database, the child categories are ordered according to the OID field that is located in the N_catalogHierarchy table.
