This article was previously published under Q296320

SYMPTOMS

When you create new categories in succession by using the Catalogs module in the Commerce Server 2000 Business Desk, creating subsequent categories by using the Save and Create New Category option may create those categories with the same Assigned Categories information as the previous categories that you created.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do one of the following:
  • When you are entering the new category information, click to expand Assigned Categories, and then select either the desired category assignment or none.-or-

  • After you create the first category, click Save and Back to Catalog Properties, and then create the next new category by clicking New in the Categories section of the Business Desk page.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Commerce Server 2000.

MORE INFORMATION

When you use the Save and Create New Category option, the Business Desk application does not reinitialize all of the variables and settings in the module. Therefore, if you create a new category, assign an existing category to it, and then create another category by using the Save and Create New Category option, the new category will have the same Assigned Categories information as the previous category.
