ACC2000: Access Data Project Cannot Be Shared as Expected (296263)

This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and to a Microsoft Access project (.adp).

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Access in a multiuser environment, and you attempt to access a shared data project, the database may be unexpectedly opened as read-only.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because in a multiuser environment, each user needs his or her own copy of the Access project file that is connected to the same Microsoft SQL Server database. You cannot share the same Access project file among two or more users.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, obtain a copy of the Access project.
