WD2000: Missing Text When You View a Document with Web Page Preview (296221)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q296221 For a Microsoft Word 2002 version of this article, see 292068.
SYMPTOMS
When you use the Web Page Preview command to view a document, lines of text at the bottom of the document do not appear.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur in the following situation:
- You create a document in print layout view.
-and- - You insert an AutoShape into the document.
-and- - You fill the inserted AutoShape with text.
-and- - You view the document in Web Layout view, or you use Web Page Preview, or you save the document as a Web page and view it from a Web browser.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, use Web Layout view in Microsoft Word to create a document that you want to view from within a Web browser.
To switch to Web Layout view, click Web Layout on the View menu.
You now see the document as it will appear in a Web browser.
MORE INFORMATION
A Web browser renders text using a slightly different character and line spacing than does the Normal or Print Layout views in Microsoft Word. For this reason, text that fills an AutoShape may appear to be "cropped" when the document is viewed from within a Web browser.
