WMI Events Are Lost While OnePoint Service Is Not Running (296014)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Operations Manager 2000

This article was previously published under Q296014

SYMPTOMS

When you stop and then restart the OnePoint service, Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service events are not reported while the OnePoint service is stopped.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) loses its registration with WMI when the OnePoint service is stopped.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, restart the OnePoint service to reregister MOM with WMI, allowing MOM to continue to receive WMI event information.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

MOM is a WMI event subscriber and must reconnect to WMI upon OnePoint service restart in order to get event notification.
