Hyphen Is Not Accepted As a "Parameter Storage" Property of a Collect-Specific-Event Rule (295979)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Operations Manager 2000

This article was previously published under Q295979

SYMPTOMS

To define a new event processing rule, such as the Collect-Specific-Event rule, you cannot use a (-) hyphen in the Store these event parameters value. If you use a value that contains a hyphen, an "Invalid Parameter" error message is displayed.

WORKAROUND

When you are attempting to collect a range of event parameters, you have to enter each one individually and separate them by (,) commas. For example, to collect event parameters between 1 and 5, the following sample is not valid:

1-5

Instead, you must enter the parameters as shown in the following sample:

1,2,3,4,5

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
