This article was previously published under Q295929 SYMPTOMS
If your computer is running Office 2001 or Office 98 in the Classic mode of OS X, the programs listed at the beginning of this article respond more slowly than if the computer was running OS 9.1 or earlier.
CAUSE
All programs respond more slowly in Classic mode, because Classic mode is an emulated operating system. Specific functionality may be slower, because of the way the program interacts with the operating system.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, start your computer in OS 9.1, and run the Office program. To do this, follow these steps:
- Quit all open programs.
- From the Apple menu, select System Preferences and then click Show All.
- From System Preferences, double-click Startup Disk System Preference.
- Select the Mac OS 9.1 System folder, and then close the Startup Disk window.
- From the Apple menu, select Restart.
