  • Microsoft Operations Manager 2000

This article was previously published under Q295916

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Microsoft Operations Manager 2000 (MOM) "Service Bounce Asynchronous" script to stop and restart any service other than the OnePoint service, the OnePoint service stops, but does not restart.

CAUSE

The Service Bounce Asynchronous script is used by MOM to stop and restart the OnePoint service in the event that certain configured parameters occur. You can pass additional additional parameters to this script so that you could potentially use the script to stop services other than the OnePoint service. However, although you can use this script to stop and then restart other services that are passed as a parameter of the script, the script stops (but does not restart) the OnePoint service.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, only use the Service Bounce Asynchronous script to stop and restart the OnePoint service.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

MOM scripts are located in Rules/Advanced/Scripts in the MOM Administrator console.
