"Not Enough Space" Error Message When You Try to Create Database Larger Than 4 GB (295914)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Operations Manager 2000
This article was previously published under Q295914 SYMPTOMS
When you are installing the Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) database, if you specify the database size to be larger than 4 gigabytes (GB), you may receive an error message that reports that there is not enough space, even though the hard disk has plenty of space.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you try to install a database that is larger than 4 GB in size on a file allocation table (FAT) partition. The file size limit on a FAT partition is 4 GB.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, install the MOM database on an NTFS file system partition.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, create a MOM database file that is smaller than 4 GB, and then manually add a datafile to the MOM database in Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Manager.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
