MOM Cannot Use Active Directory Information to Populate Computer Groups (295835)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Operations Manager 2000

This article was previously published under Q295835

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2000 cannot populate computer groups with information that is obtained from the Active Directory.

CAUSE

MOM computer groups are based upon computer attributes. These attributes are established as a comparison point of data in the agent's registry with the values defining the attribute. Additionally, MOM does not perform any network-related queries on a prospective agent to determine information such as IP address or subnet mask.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

During the agent scan, which by default occurs nightly at 2:05 A.M., MOM evaluates the registry of each agent computer to determine which computer attributes that agent meets. From these results, MOM can then assign the agent to the appropriate computer group or groups.
