Historical Data Is Not Preserved When an Agent's Name or Domain Is Changed (295834)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Operations Manager 2000

This article was previously published under Q295834

SUMMARY

Modifications to the name or associated domain of a Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) agent do not preserve the history that is associated with the computer.

MORE INFORMATION

MOM does not preserve an association between the agent and the collected information independent of the domain/computer name information. If a MOM agent's computer name is modified or its associated domain is changed, the history of events and alerts for that computer is not preserved. Instead, a new record is created in the database; the historical data (events, alerts, etc.) is not migrated to the new record.
