SUMMARY

The Microsoft® SQL ServerT 2000 Windows® CE Edition version 1.1 (SQL Server CE) bits for x86 (CEPC), PPC 821, 403, and MIPS 4300 will be installed only if Microsoft Platform Builder (PB) 3.0 is also installed on the computer.

SQL Server CE Books Online does not list each processor that is supported. However, SQL Server CE Books Online does state that SQL Server CE supports the processors that are supported by PB 3.0. In addition, the code snippets for deployment do not have an example for each processor type.

All the processors for PB 3.0 are installed in the Wince300\Others folder in addition to the Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server CE\Device folder.

MORE INFORMATION

SQL Server CE supports Platform Builder 3.0 and CEPC. However, when you install SQL Server CE on a computer where PB 3.0 is not installed, SQL Server CE components for CEPC, PPC 821, 403, and MIPS 4300 do not install.

To fix the problem:
  1. Uninstall SQL Server CE.
  2. Install PB 3.0.
  3. Reinstall SQL Server CE.
Now, the SQL Server CE bits for PPC 821, 403, and MIPS 4300 are in the Wince300\Others folder in addition to the Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server CE\Device folder.

If you use Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++ (eVC++) and an exported Software Development Kit (SDK) that is generated by PB 3.0 on another computer, eVC++ does not find the SQL Server CE x86 library files for CEPC. The workaround is to manually copy the files from the PB computer after you install SQL Server CE.
