The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft FrontPage 2002
- SharePoint Team Services from Microsoft
- FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions from Microsoft
This article was previously published under Q295738 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft FrontPage 2002, when you open a subweb and attempt to rename it by using the Web Settings dialog box, the following error message appears:
You do not have permission to do this operation. Ask your web site administrator to change your permissions and then try again, or log on with a user account that has this permission. To log on with a different user account click OK.
CAUSE
The error message can appear if you have administrator rights on the subweb but not on the root web of the server. Because some configuration files located in the root folder need to be updated when you rename a subweb, you need administrator rights on the root web as well as the subweb.
RESOLUTION- Ask the Web server administrator to rename the web.
-or-
- Ask the Web server administrator to give you administrative rights to the root web.
