Microsoft Word can only import text from from a QuarkXPress 4.x file, not Quark documents or Quark graphics. Follow these steps to import text from QuarkXPress into Word 2001 or Word 98:
  1. Start QuarkXPress 4.x for Mac OS.
  2. Open the document that you want to export.
  3. Select the text. On the File menu, click Save Text.
  4. Click to select Microsoft Word 8.0 on the Format drop-down menu.
  5. Click the Selected Text button, and then click Save.
  6. Start Word 2001 or Word 98. On the File menu, click Open.
  7. In the Open dialog box, select the document that you exported from QuarkXPress.
To import a Word document, QuarkXPress lists these steps:
  1. Create a document in Microsoft Word 98 or Word 2001, and then save the file as an MS Word document.
  2. Start QuarkXPress 4.x with the MS Word 8.0 filter loaded.
