BUG: Opening an Existing DTS Package with OLAP Tasks Causes Error After Analysis Manager Is Installed (295533)

SYMPTOMS

After upgrading a computer from OLAP Manager 7.0 to Analysis Manager 2000, you may not be able to open or modify existing Data Transformation Services (DTS) packages that have OLAP add-in processing tasks created in SQL Server 7.0. When you try to open the DTS package in SQL Server 7.0 Enterprise Manager, you receive the following error:
Parameter is incorrect.

WORKAROUND

You can work around this problem in the following ways:
  • Upgrade Enterprise Manager from the SQL Server 7.0 version to the SQL Server 2000 version.
  • Re-create the DTS packages that have OLAP processing tasks.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 7.0.

This problem was corrected in SQL Server 2000.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

To reproduce this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Install SQL Server 7.0 Enterprise Manager, OLAP Manager 7.0, and the OLAP processing task add-in.
  2. Create a DTS package with an OLAP processing task.
  3. Upgrade OLAP Manager 7.0 to Analysis Manager 2000.
  4. On the same computer, attempt to open the DTS package that you created.
