IntelliType Pro 2: Key Assigned "Closes Active File or Window" Function Does Not Perform as Expected (295493)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office Keyboard, when used with:
    • Microsoft IntelliType Pro software 2.0
    • Microsoft IntelliType Pro software 2.1

This article was previously published under Q295493

SYMPTOMS

When you assign the "Closes active file or window" function to any hot key, the window may not close as expected.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because not all windows have a Close option available.

The "Closes active file or window" function relies on the program window in which you are attempting to use the function to recognize the universal keyboard shortcut CTRL+F4. If the program window does not recognize this shortcut command, the "Closes active file or window" function does not work.

MORE INFORMATION

To determine whether your program window recognizes the CTRL+F4 keyboard shortcut, right-click the title bar. If the drop-down menu includes a Close line with the keyboard shortcut CTRL+F4 next to it, this program should recognize the keyboard shortcut, and it should therefore respond when you press a hot key that is assigned the "Closes active file or window" function.
