Office Keyboard: Some Keys May Not Work in MS-DOS Prompt Box (295491)

SYMPTOMS

When you type in the MS-DOS Prompt box with the Microsoft Office Keyboard, the following keys may not work as expected:

EQUAL SIGN [=]
OPEN PARENTHESIS [(]
CLOSE PARENTHESIS [)]

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you use the OPEN PARENTHESIS, CLOSE PARENTHESIS, or EQUAL SIGN keys that are located above the numeric keypad portion of the keyboard.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, insert an open parenthesis, close parenthesis, or equal sign character by pressing SHIFT+9, SHIFT+0, or the EQUAL SIGN key on the main keyboard.
