SUMMARY

The Microsoft IntelliType Pro version 2.0 software allows for customization of keys and buttons on the keyboards that are listed in the "Applies To" section. However, the "Launch a file, Web page, or program" function has limitations with long file names.

To customize a hot key with the "Launch a file, Web page, or program" function, you must follow the same method as when you enter paths into the Run dialog box (on the Start menu): When you enter a long file name, you need to use opening and closing quotation marks.

For example, although the following file name does not work

d:\program files\notepad.exe c:\temp\a.txt

the following does work:

"d:\program files\notepad.exe" c:\temp\a.txt

The IntelliType Pro version 2.0 software should work with all of the following:

c:\temp\a.txt
notepad c:\temp\a.txt
notepad.exe c:\temp\a.txt
d:\winnt.1\system32\notepad.exe c:\temp\a.txt
d:\winnt.1\system32\notepad.exe junk c:\temp\a.txt (Control Panel accepts this, and then Notepad gives warning at start)
