This article explains how to change the file size limit of the ErrorLog.txt file.

The ErrorLog.txt log file is automatically created to record Extensible Markup Language (XML) (file open) errors in Microsoft Visio 2002. This log file removes the oldest records when new records are added.

Increase or Decrease the XML ErrorLog.txt File Size

To increase or decrease the size of the XML ErrorLog.txt file, follow these steps:
  1. Start Visio.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Advanced tab.
  3. Under User settings, click to select the Put all settings in Windows registry check box, and then click OK.
  4. Quit Visio.
  5. Start and quit Visio again.

    Visio writes its settings to the Windows registry.
  6. Click Start, and then click Run.
  7. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
  8. Locate the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Visio\application\XMLErrorLogMaxSize

  9. Double-click the Value name XMLErrorLogMaxSize, and then change the Value data size.

    NOTE: The value is represented in kilobytes (KB).
By default, the XML ErrorLog.txt file is located in the following folder:

Documents and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Visio\ErrorLog.txt
